Samsung D600 Mobile Phone

An updated version of the highly-popular D500 the Samsung D600 was voted Handset Of The Year by the Mobile Choice Awards 2005. The phone itself is now relatively old but it continues to be popular given its great range of features and reliability. Also, the fact that its price has now dropped dramatically because of its age means you can pick up a really solid handset pretty cheaply, especially if you wish to use it on pay as you go.
The D600 has the same form factor as the D500 being a slide phone, but its phone is thinner, but slightly longer and wider. Like the clamshell form, the slide has become a popular form because it enables a relatively large screen to be placed within a compact phone. It has an advantage over a clamshell however, in that many of its features are conveniently available on the front face. The slide mechanism works very well with a gentle push causing the phone to open and close automatically, giving access to the keypad below.
The camera is pretty basic now given that its only 2 mega-pixels resolution but it can take print-quality images and comes with a powerful 4x digital zoom, an LED flashlight, a choice of shooting modes and an image editor. The onboard video camera also has a useful TV-out port so you can view your recorded videos directly on a TV.
The MP3 player supports MP3, AAC and AAC+ and also supports 3D sound technology from stereo speakers. Like the D500, the phone uses voice clarity technology to automatically sense the volume of background noise during a call and increase the volume and clarity of the incoming call to make it more audible. There is an integrated handsfree speakerphone.
The D600 has full Bluetooth support for data and wireless headset and a Bluetooth stereo headset and Bluetooth car kit are available from Samsung. The D600 has support for many types of messaging, including SMS, EMS, MMS and email. Another great feature is the PicselViewer which enables office documents to be viewed – it supports Excel, Word, Powerpoint and HTML documents and the TV Out feature can be used to display documents on a TV screen if desired.
The 81 Mbytes of available onboard memory provides enough storage for 60 minutes of video or up to 20 MP3 tracks. In addition the memory can be expanded using a TransFlash™ card.
As far as problems are concerned they are generally few – We found that the supplied software is not the most intuitive and there’s no option to have vibration and ringtone simultaneously. The fact that we don’t have alot of fault with this phone is why we like it so much. While the phone  does not have the Symbian applications of a Nokia smartphone, or the advanced facilities of some of the newer camera phones, the features that are available on the Samsung D600 mobile phone mean that at a cheap price you are getting extraordinarily good value for money.
